You need: butter, chocolate chips, sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour, cocoa, salt, and soft cream cheese.
Brownie: 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup chips, 3/4 cup sugar, 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/3 cup flour, 1/4 cup cocoa, 1/4 tsp salt.
Cheesecake: 16 oz soft cream cheese, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 tsp vanilla.
Top: extra 1/3 cup chips. Pan: 8×8 with paper.
Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Put paper in the pan.
Picture 2 — Melt butter and chocolate
Put butter + 1 cup chips in a bowl. Microwave 30 seconds. Stir. Repeat until smooth and shiny. Do not burn.
Picture 3 — Make the dark brownie batter
Let chocolate cool 2 minutes. Mix in sugar, 2 eggs, vanilla. Then flour, cocoa, salt.
Save 1/3 cup of this batter in a small bowl. You need it for the swirl.
Picture 4 — Spread brownie in the pan
Pour the rest into the pan. Spread it flat. This is the dark bottom of the bar.
Picture 5 — Make the cream cheese mix
Cream cheese must be soft. Beat it with 1/2 cup sugar until smooth. Add 1 egg and vanilla. Mix until creamy. No lumps.
Picture 6 — Pour cream cheese on the brownie
Pour the white mix on the dark brownie. Spread it gently. Do not stir the two layers together. This is the thick white middle.
Picture 7 — Swirl the top
Drop small spoons of the saved dark batter on the white layer. Add chocolate chips.
Pull a knife through the top only. Left, right, up, down. Do not go to the bottom. Now you have waves like the first picture.
Picture 8 — Bake, chill, cut
Bake 30–35 minutes. Sides set. Middle can still wiggle a little.
Cool 1 hour. Fridge 2 hours. Lift out. Cut into 16 squares with a hot knife.
Done when you see: dark bottom, cream middle, swirl + chips on top — same as this picture.
If it is not right
Lumpy white layer? Cream cheese was cold.
No white stripe? You swirled too deep.
Bars smash? Cut only when cold.
Dry? Baked too long.
That is how you make these bars. 8 pictures. One video. Easy.
